Teddington
Teddington, known to many locals and boaters as 'Tide End Town', separates the non-tidal Upper Thames from the tidal Lower Thames. The massive barge lock, and the smaller launch and skiff locks are operated by the Environment Agency 24 hours a day.

Eel Pie Island
Eel Pie Island
Eel pie and all that jazz
Famous in the fifties for jazz, and in the sixties as a venue for rock and roll, Eel pie island had long been a popular haunt for the rich and famous. Henry VIII may have stopped here for eel pies, in the early 1500's after which it was given its name, but its popularity grew with the building of its famous hotel in 1830, which unfortunately burnt down in 1972.
