For thousands of years, our ancestors have worked on and along the river, and some of the traditions of boat building and fishing have been in the same family for many generations.
In this section we explore some of these skills and crafts using photographs, artwork and documents made available by archives and libraries along the route of the river.
The theme is broken down into a number of sections which can be selected from the left hand panel. We will add to them as documents and images become available.
